Course Requirements and Student Expectations
We are honored to be considered as a source as you travel on your spiritual journey. Students who come to SBI are at various levels of understanding of and appreciation for the Bible and Bible-related subjects. Most attendees are Christians seeking deeper understanding of Biblical truths so that they might “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Others are seekers interested in a Christian view of human spirituality and its origin, meaning and purpose. Whether your goal is to improve your Christian leadership and teaching skills, to become a better Bible student, or to become better informed about Christian views of life, all are welcome. The major requirement is a desire to learn and a willingness to explore the Bible.
General Student Expectations
SBI values a holistic view of spiritual development including attempting to love God with our hearts, souls, and minds, and to love our neighbors as ourselves—as Jesus teaches us (Matthew 22:37-39). With that in mind, regardless of the religious or the ethical backgrounds of SBI students, they are all expected to attempt to engage others with the Christian graces of kindness and godly respect while at the school. As far as possible, all students are expected to leave distractions at home and come ready to learn.
General Course Requirements
No educational requirements are made of those who desire to attend SBI. If a student has chosen a Certificate track, they will be expected to complete both the institute-required and the student-selected courses before being awarded the specific Certificate. Each course requires the passing of 3 tests administered by the teacher and the timely submission of a 4 to 6-page paper on a subject or text approved by the teacher. Every student is expected to attend every class session for which she or he is registered. Of course, unplanned absences are understandable but all absences will need to be discussed with the class teacher. Absences hinder the successful completion of a course.
